FINAL INSTALLATION
Barnes Museum Fire Feature
Through a wonderful collaboration with Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects, the ‘Candelabra’ was conceived and eventually situated at the far end of the outdoor cafe just out from under the spectacular cantilevered roof. Care was taken to create something that was both at home in the museum, but that didn’t compete with the art or architecture.
The stainless steel sculpture was designed to sit within a cove of custom gilded Italian glass tile which amplifies the specular highlights of the flames, sprinkling light out into the space. The fire feature has since become a destination itself by anchoring many events and extending the season into colder weather.
